Archived description
Designed by Chuck Burns and completed in 2007, the modern schooner "Sir Edmund" was built for a prominent West Coast Offshore Yachtsman based on an updated set of the proven "Chuck Burns" design parameters as predecessor, "Sir Isaac" that sailed to victory in the Transpac in 1986 and went on to place in the double-handed Melbourne to Osaka Race.
Sir Edmund is an exquisite example of a cold-molded schooner built from Port Orford Cedar using West Systems Epoxy with a foam core for extra stiffness, burmese teak decks, a delightfully light maple interior and traditional teak and holly sole.
Her hull shape, and two carbon fiber masts of nearly equal height create a fast boat with a manageable sail plan that reduces weight and windage aloft, making her easy to sail light handed in all conditions.
Sir Edmund is the embodiment of style and grace, complete with electronics, instrumentation, full suite of racign and cruising sails and a 40HP Yanmar. this boat is truly a modern classic with a proven short-handed racing pedigree.
